A small language model titled CraftGPT was built in Minecraft without using command blocks or datapacks by a YouTube user behind the nickname ‘sammyuri,’ who shared footage of his achievement in a video titled “I built ChatGPT with Minecraft Redstone!” posted on Sept. 28, 2025.

The context window size of sammyuri’s creation is quite small and consists of 64 tokens, which allows users to have short conversations with it, but in a very relaxed manner, as the model can produce a response in about 2 hours when the tick rate is increased using MCHPRS (Minecraft High Performance Redstone Server) to about 40,000× speed.

This Minecraft small take on ChatGPT has 5,087,280 parameters and was trained in Python on the TinyChat dataset of basic English conversations, with an embedding dimension of 240, a vocabulary of 1,920 tokens, and consists of 6 layers.

According to the video’s description, the build occupies a volume of 1,020 × 260 × 1,656 blocks, and the footage of it was captured with Distant Horizons, which caused distant redstone components to look strange as they were rendered at a lower level of detail.
