PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller Is About to Receive Removable Battery
Sony is reportedly working on a new iteration of the DualSense with a removable battery, arriving in November 2025.
According to the ppe.pl portal, a new version of the PlayStation 5 controller, which will step up from the current fixed battery design, is internally known in the company as DualSense V3.
The report, citing leaker Graczdari, known for correctly revealing Microsoft Flight Simulator on PlayStation 5, also claims that DualSense V3 will replace existing models in retail stores upon release.
Alongside the new controller, Sony will be aledgedly rolling out a minor revision of the PlayStation 5 Pro with reduced by about 3% power consumption.
As of the time of writing, Sony’s consoles of the ninth generation support the DualSense as the basic controller and the DualSense Edge, which utilizes a modular design featuring replaceable analog stick modules, interchangeable analog stick caps (standard DualSense caps, as well as high- and low-convex dome caps), rear paddle buttons, adjustable trigger lengths, multiple control profiles, customizable mapping inputs, and a lockable USB-C socket.
The news comes on the heels of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition shrinking down to 825GB of storage from 1TB.
